Biography

Dr. Elzbieta Mechel is a dedicated ophthalmologist who has completed a fellowship in Cornea & Refractive Surgery at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, & Throat Hospital in New York. Her extensive training also includes an ophthalmology residency at Northwell Health Eye Institute and a transitional year internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital.

Dr. Mechel earned her medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine. Her undergraduate education was completed at Baruch College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in Mathematics, having participated in the college’s honors program.

Her research and clinical expertise have been recognized through multiple awards, including the Annual Geller Original Investigation Award and her induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Mechel’s work encompasses a range of topics within ophthalmology, reflected in her numerous publications and presentations.

Fluent in Polish and proficient in Spanish, Dr. Mechel brings a rich cultural background to her practice. Outside of her professional endeavors, she enjoys ballroom dance, running, hiking, and traveling.
