Dr. Emily R. Strand is a board-certified optometrist joining OCLI Vision with a strong clinical background in primary eye care and the management of complex ocular diseases. She recently completed a specialized residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry, where she also served as an Assistant Clinical Instructor. In that role, she mentored students in clinical labs and supervised advanced clinics in glaucoma, retina, and anterior segment/dry eye.
Dr. Strand has extensive experience in providing comprehensive and urgent eye care within high-volume hospital and referral center settings. She is experienced in co-managing diverse surgical cases and is proficient in advanced ocular imaging and modern dry eye therapies, including LipiFlow and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments.
Dr. Strand earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry after completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Her professional training included rigorous externships at the Illinois Eye Institute, Illinois Eye Center, William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center and Associated Eye care, where she managed diverse populations and complex systemic conditions, including diabetic retinopathy and corneal diseases.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, Dr. Strand is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry and has presented at national conferences. She has contributed to the field through research and lectures on topics ranging from bilateral Uveitis-glaucoma-hyphema syndrome to diagnostic testing for ocular manifestations. Beyond her clinical practice, she has a heart for service, previously volunteering with SVOSH to deliver thousands of eye exams to underserved communities in Barbados.
