Biography

Raymond Mariani, OD, is an optometrist who specializes in medical eye care, including well-vision care, postoperative refractions, contact lens fitting, double-vision correction and postoperative surgical care. Dr. Mariani was educated in Manhattan at the State University of New York College of Optometry, where he received his doctorate in 1991.

Dr. Mariani joined OCLI over ten years ago, following 11 years of private practice on Long Island specializing in primary-care optometry and contact lenses. He then became clinical director of a large refractive surgery practice in Manhattan for two years. He did an optometric fellowship in retina at Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut and is an adjunct faculty member at the New England College of Optometry, where he teaches interns about primary-care optometry and refractive surgery.

Dr. Mariani drew upon his vast experience as an ophthalmic dispenser to write the curriculum for the fledgling ophthalmic dispensary program at Suffolk Community College, where he was an adjunct faculty member for a number of years.
