Dr. Shaina Kumar is an accomplished Ophthalmologist with a focus on cataract and refractive surgery. She joined Jacksoneye in Lake Villa, IL, in 2023 for a fellowship in Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Kumar completed her Ophthalmology residency at Bronxcare Health System in New York, followed by an internship year in Family Medicine at the same institution.

Dr. Kumar earned her M.D. from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and a B.S. in Biology from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, where she also minored in English and Chemistry. She excelled in her licensing examinations, including a notable score of 247 on USMLE Step 1 and 251 on USMLE Step 2 Clinical Knowledge.

Her research contributions include publications in esteemed journals such as Oxford Medical Case Reports and Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. She has authored and contributed to several review articles on Eyewiki, and has presented her work at major conferences like the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

Dr. Kumar has participated in specialized training programs and conferences across the country. Her volunteer work includes roles in community service and organizing events for various causes, showcasing her commitment to both her profession and her community.
