Biography
Joseph Bacotti is a board-certified ophthalmologist at OCLI’s Mineola location. Dr. Bacotti graduated from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York, in 1973 and attended medical school in Monterrey, Mexico. He received his medical degree in medicine and surgery in 1978 and completed his internship at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York. Continuing his education, Dr. Bacotti completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, in 1982. Dr. Bacotti has been a member of the Mineola Lions Club for many years. He lectures on diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration for the Lions district and is the district co-chair for sight.
Professional societies that Dr. Bacotti is associated with include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New York State Ophthalmological Society (past president), Long Island Ophthalmological Society (past president), Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists (board member), Nassau Academy of Medicine (past president, ophthalmology section), Nassau County Medical Society, American College of Surgeons, State Medical Society (board of directors and vice chairman, delegate), Lions Eye Bank of Long Island, and Lions Club (Long Island) co-chair for sight.
He lectures extensively to ophthalmologists, other physicians, optometrists, opticians, and technicians on optics, vision correction, and all aspects of eye care, locally, nationally, and internationally.
Dr. Bacotti is an associate at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island (OCLI), an eye-care group consisting of over 30 eye doctors and surgeons representing a broad spectrum of specialties in ophthalmology and optometry, with 63 locations throughout Long Island.
