Biography
Dr. D’Aversa earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry, following a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Cum Laude honors at Manhattan University. Dr. D’Aversa has extensive experience in pre- and post-operative surgical co-management, emergency eye care, and the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and ocular surface disease. Additionally, Dr. D’Aversa excels in contact lens fittings for patients with unique corneal and refractive needs. For children and teenagers, Dr. D’Aversa provides cutting-edge treatment options to help slow down myopia (nearsightedness). Dr. D’Aversa is also pleased to offer advanced, drop-free treatment options for dry eye disease, including punctal plug and Lacrifill gel treatments, TearCare® thermal eyelid therapy, and regenerative stem cell-based therapies designed to improve ocular surface health and long-term patient comfort. Dr. D’Aversa has given lectures on cataract surgery management, ocular surface disease and has contributed to the publication Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today. He has also traveled to medically underserved communities in Panama and Grenada to provide comprehensive eye care. As well, Dr. D’Aversa has helped fundraise for mobile health units that provide eye care for underserved communities.
