Biography

Benjamin D. Freilich, MD, FACS, is board certified in Ophthalmology and specialty-trained in diseases and surgery of the Retina and Vitreous. His training includes a fellowship in retina surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and The Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Dr. Freilich received his Medical Degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in 1989 and a B.S. from the University of Chicago in 1985. He served as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Navy Reserves from 2000 – 2007. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and licensed in New York and New Jersey.

Dr. Freilich is Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine. His special interests include treatment and management of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, retinal vascular occlusions, as well as other retinal and vitreous diseases. Dr. Freilich is on staff at The Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, NJ. Dr. Freilich is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists.
