Biography

Tailun Zhao, MD, a vitreo-retinal surgeon, received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005 and obtained his medical doctoral degree from the same institution’s College of Medicine in 2012. Dr. Zhao completed his Vitreoretinal Fellowship at AIO. Prior to joining Associates in Ophthalmology as a retina fellow, Dr. Zhao completed an internal medicine internship at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He began his residency program in ophthalmology at the Flaum Eye Institute, University of Rochester School of Medicine, which he successfully completed in June 2016. His professional appointments include several research publications and studies at the University of Rochester, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Zhao is also involved in many charitable organizations, including volunteering his educational skills and knowledge in helping those less fortunate and uninsured.
